Christmas Presents - My Family

January 12, 2018
For my family, I decided to make some cute crocheted tissue box covers. I used the same pattern I've used a couple of times before, which is Twinkie Chan's Cheeseburger Tissue Box Cozy from her book Twinkie Chan's Crocheted Abode a la Mode.

Now, I've had problems with the gauge for this project before. I thought I had it down after last time, where I just went down a hook size to a 4.5mm hook instead of a 5mm. However, as I was using a different brand of yarn, it was slightly off again.

So on one box I started off on 4.5, went down to 4mm for a few rows, and then down to 3.5mm for the last little bit. Then I did a final row of decreases (two double crochet then double crochet two together), to pull it in a bit tighter on the last row.

For the second box, I tried a different approach and just used a 4mm hook for the entire thing, with a final row of double crochet two together the whole way around.

They both turned out nice, but I don't think either of them were as snug as my Mario tissue box cover, which is a bit of a pain.

I then made a little heart using this Easy Crochet Hearts pattern, making the two rounds size.
