Striped Baby Blanket

December 03, 2017
If I know you, and you're having a baby, chances are you're getting a crochet blanket as a pressie! I love making baby presents, and I just always think blankets are so useful, especially for wee winter babies.

I like to mix up my baby blanket patterns so I don't make the same ones all the time, and for this one (which is for my lovely childminder and her new wee baby boy) I used this lovely free pattern, Henry's baby blanket.

I used basically the same colour scheme as the pattern suggested, but I swapped the white for a cream (I just think cream is less harsh looking beside other colours) and changed the navy blue for a light orange.

This blanket was full of different stitch combos I haven't used before, and I love the way the different textured sections looked. It was really easy to work up as well, as you used the same pattern over large sections. I love how close crocheted it is as well, which I think will make it extra snugly in the colder weather.

My childminder was totally over the moon with it, and apparently, she and her husband had been arguing over whether I had made it or not, as he thought it looked too professional, so I was pretty happy with that feedback!

For this project, I used Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran, and man I can not say enough good things about this yarn! It's a lovely, squishy Aran yarn, that comes in an insane amount of colours, and it's only like £2 per ball! It's amazing, and I would highly recommend it if you're a frequent acrylic yarn user like me.

Yarn Used:
  • Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran:
    • Slate Grey.
    • Melon Sorbet.
    • Spearmint Green.
    • Vanilla Cream.
