Cheeseburger Tissue Box Cozy

September 17, 2017
So the reason I knew to use Twinkie Chan's Cheeseburger Tissue Box Cozy pattern for my Mario Chain Chomper tissue box was because I had actually already made the Cheeseburger Tissue Box Cozy for someone else! I made it as another house warming present for my friends Zara and Mark. Actually, I made it twice!

The first time I made it, I used the suggested hook (as mentioned in my last post) and it was far too big! It just looked gross and baggy, and I wasn't happy. I also hadn't been turning my work at the end of row (totally missed this instruction the first time around), so the join for each new row was super visible. And lastly, when it comes time to add the cheese, tomatoes, and onions, the pattern basically says add the cheese as desired, which I did. However, it then has super detailed instructions about how far to the side of a piece of cheese you need to add the tomato, and then the onion for them all to line up, so my fancy-free cheese placement didn't look right and I ran out of room to fit everything in. So I ripped the whole thing out and started again.

A smaller hook worked much better, though I had to finish a few rows shorter than the pattern because it already fit my tissue box snugly. The yarn I used was slightly different, so that might explain when I had to do this a bit shorter than the Chain Chomp box, and I was also mixing two different brands. I remembered to turn my work and the join is now practically invisible. And then for the toppings I attached a piece of cheese, the tomato, and then onion in one go. Then repeated with the next set, to make sure they all lined up, and were spaced evenly around the box. I had to stretch the last set of onions so there was no weird gaps, but now they all line up lovely.

I'm so happy I took the time to do it twice, because it just looks a hundred times better the second time around.
