645 - PUT A LITTLE FENCE AROUND IT!

As I said in my Friday post, I just found out about Catbug, and I am in love with him.

If you don't know who he is, watch this and it will make your life better.

He's from a You Tube cartoon called Bravest Warriors made by the guy who makes Adventure Time, so you know it's good. Anyway, while Googling awesome Catbug things, I found a perler bead pattern on Kandi Patterns, so obviously had to make him.

644 - Sublime Stitching Cushions

Sometimes I buy a craft kit so awesome that I don't want to do it until I'm REALLY in the mood to do it, in case I ruin it. This was true for the Sublime Stitching shy guy and girl pillow cases I bought a little while ago. I didn't think I had bought them that long ago, but when I checked it was about a year so I thought I should probably get on them.

Here's what they look like plain.

After much stitching, washing, ironing and stuffing cushions into them, I can finally say they are done!

After I had finished the boy I realised I managed to stitch him to look exactly like the Joker. Whoops. I'm so happy with how they turned out, and even happier than the washable ink I stitched over actually disappeared when I washed them.

That green thread was a bit of a nightmare though as it's so soft and had popped out in a few places (one of which you can see in the photo on his hair whoops!) so that required a few fixes, but the colour was just so cool. It seems all my knots (I know I shouldn't be knotting) came loose in the wash.

Despite owning a few books and patterns, this is actually the first Sublime Stitching thing I actually stitched but I've very happy with it. Now these awesome cushions can live proudly on our bed. Woo!

641 - First ref bout

So a couple of weeks ago I reffed my first public bout. It came around a lot quicker than I thought it would, and I literally got asked the week before but it was exciting none the less. I reffed a men's bout (ah!) which was the Jakey Bites vs South Wales Sillures. It was a VERY fast game and I probably didn't see half the things that were going on but it was so much fun. I outside pack reffed, which is different for me as I usually jam ref but it's good to get practise at everything.

Anyway, here are some photos of me reffing. Not many actions shot as the OPRs usually escape the photos but I'm exciting for stripe photos none the less.

640 - Rose buttons

A little while ago we got a set of vintage style rose buttons free in Mollie Makes magazine. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with them till I saw this on the Little Lovelies blog.

While she the above picture uses fake flowers, I thought the rose buttons would be awesome for this. It's taken me ages to actually getting around to doing it, but I thought I would had a bash this weekend.

I just finished off the back by pulling it together, as I didn't want to risk ruining it gluing felt on the back, which I sometimes end up doing with other ones. I also got to look up my sewing encylopedia to see how to sew on a shank button, so that was exciting.

637 - Gravestones

This is another, ooo I've been wanting to make this for ages sort of thing. I had to hunt through Tumblr to find the photo a couple of days ago because I remembered I had bought the grey felt for it, but couldn't find the photo. Lots of Tumblr searching late I found the picture.

I loved this when I saw it and thought making it out of felt and into a cute brooch would be a cool idea. Here's how it turned out.

Grave stone brooch

Quite cute right? It's quite big but I was aiming for over sized. I used the stitching over tracing paper technique for doing the embroidery which I HATE! But I wasn't sure how else to do it. Anyway, hopefully can rock this with an outfit soon.

636 - It's a me! Mario!

...on a toilet. Ha ha. This is a pin I've had on my Pinterest for a while so I decided to take a crack at him. This is the original pin below.

Here's a look at my version.

Perler bead Mario

I love him. He's so random! And who doesn't want Mario in their bathroom? Here he is, chilling next to Flounder, on top of our mirror.
