625 - Last Look Back March

When was the last time I did a last look back?! Well, probably the last time I Smashbooked. I haven't done it for so long, but I was looking over my Smashbook Challenge post (as it's the most viewed post on my blog ever by a long shot!) and decided to get involved!

I decided to do the 10 facts about the city you live in page, so check it out.

624 - Granny rectangles

As you know, when I learned to crochet, granny squares were the first thing I nailed down. They are so easy I love them, and they look amazing.

I've been wanting to make a cover for a stool I inherited from my Gran when she died, and I'm sure I mentioned many a time that I wanted to crochet a cover for it. This week I got the crochet bug and decided enough was enough, I was going to make this damn stool cover. I have loads of wool, so no excuses.

While research it online, because there are loads of examples of stool covers, I found for the rectangular stool I have, I would need to make a granny rectangle. Seems obvious right? I want to make one big granny rectangle, and not loads of little ones joined together, as it'll be so much easier to work on.

This example is pretty much exactly what I'm going for.

Homespun living suggests using this tutorial for a granny rectangle, and reading it, it seems quite simple (though it's all written in American terminology). The main problem I had when I was imagining this stool cover was how to make it turn down at the edges and cover the sides of the stool, instead of just being a blanket. This stool cover tutorial explain you just do less trebles into the corner once you want to start shaping your rectangle. It all seems to simple now.

Granny rectangles are just as lovely as granny squares, so I'm hoping I'll have something to show you all soon. In the meantime, here are some awesome granny rectangle examples I came across. Lush!

621 - Rose keyring

I got my new issue of Cross Stitcher at the weekend and it came with a little rose key fob kit. I thought this one was extra cool because it involved stitching through wood, which I've never done before, so I was excited to try it. I did it at the weekend while watching the wrestling and episodes of Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Rose key ring

It took a little longer than the 2 hours the magazine said it would, but I think that's just because the needle got stuck a lot and Cross Stitcher give you quite short length of thread, so you spend most of the time starting new pieces of thread. Annoying.

It was fun stitching on wood because it was much easier than fabric, because it didn't fold or fray or anything. I also love how it turned out. The block colours are so nice and I'm so glad no back stitch was involved.

620 - A cartoon...

This cartoon popped up the other day on Tumblr and I related to it so much I felt I needed to share it.

I've started getting what I think (for talking to people and Googling it) are panic attacks when I go out to places to eat. I don't get them every time we go out, and they're not always as bad as the above, but sometimes they are. Looking at this cartoon this is exactly what I feel.

I felt I should share it because it's by the amazing Gemma Correll and it's very accurate to what I feel.

Check out Gemma's other stuff, it's amazing!

617 - The Magic Notebook

As a follow on from yesterday's "look at the pretty things I bought" post, here's another one. I read a lovely post on Deer Little Fawn about The Magic Notebook and after a little browsing I knew I had to buy some pretties. My clothes ban may extend to just Internet shopping altogether.

They sell all Korean stationery and everything is just lovely! Check out what I bought.

Goodies
Even the packages are lovely!

Goodies
Some love stickers.

Goodies
Washi tape! The planets, woodland animals and flowers.

Goodies
Goose notebook. YES!

Goodies
Rabbit pen and some extras for freebies.

I think the rabbit pen is my favourite. The top hat makes pink ink come out and the ear makes black ink come out. How cute right?! I also love that I was sent a little bit of the mushroom washi tape, which is the same as the planets and woodland animal tape I got above, but the mushroom stuff was sold out. So at least I get a little bit to save.

This shop is amazing and they do diaries and planners as well, so if this is you're sort of thing, head on over there! Everything is so cute.

616 - Lovely Pigeon

The Lovely Pigeon is a site I've loved for a while, but I've always managed to stop myself buying something off it. That was until these tiny forks popped up on my Instagram and at only £5, I nipped on to buy then!

While I was on I decided to buy a blue Pigeon box, which was something I pinned a few months ago. It's basically like a goody bag of lots of lovely things.

613 - Favourite right now...again

So following on from yesterday's beauty products post I thought I would do a fashion one to theme the posts together.

As well a beauty product buying lately, I've been buying a lot of clothes too. Oops. I tried a clothes ban a month or so ago which went out the window pretty quickly but I'm trying to stick to it again. So here are five my favourite things which I've bought recently (as apparently I won't be buying anything new for a while ha ha).

Butterfly blouse from Internacionale.

Bleached jeggings from Internacionale.

Bleached cropped denim jacket from Boo Hoo.

Black and white top from New Look.

Teal lace skater dress from Boo Hoo.

612 - Favourite right now...

Beauty products. I don't do a lot of beauty/fashion type stuff on the blog, even though I wish I did sometimes, so I thought I would mix some in this week. Recently though I've been on a beauty product buying spree in a bid to try and sort myself out and look after myself. So here are my favourite five right now.

1. Clean and Clear Morning Burst face wash.

I used to use just face wipes for my face but I decided to swap to using a face wash in the mornings to try and keep my face fresher. I love this. It looks like a disco ball to look at and it does wake me up in the morning splashing water on my face.

2. Lush Mint Julips lip scrub.

Winter just wrecks my lips. It's awful. So I popped into Lush and got some lip scrub and it is amazing. I love it. I try and use it every morning before using some yummy lip balm over the top and my lips look and feel better. Love it.

3. Soap and Glory Heel Genius.

I use this overnight with cotton socks. Derby is not kind to my feet. It's amazing, my feet feel so soft when I'm done with it. Soap and Glory never fails to please.

4. Lush Lemony Flutter cuticle cream.

While I like to paint my nails quite a lot, I'm a bit rubbish at taking care of any other aspect of my nails. I bought a lot of nail/hand/feet related products lately and this was one of them. I try to rub it on every night before bed and it's lovely. And it smells amazing.

5. The Body Shop absinthe hand butter.

Now this is technically a cheat because I just bought this and haven't used it, but the smell alone is making it one of my favourite. I plan to use it with my cotton gloves on the same night as my socks because I think the butter will do wonders for my skin. I was using Soap and Glory Hand Food but when I went to use it the other night it came out like baby sick and smelt wrong so I'm guessing it had gone off. Sad times.

What are your favourite beauty products? Clearly Lush and The Body Shop are getting a big thumbs up from me!
