543 - Derby bout photos

Two things! One - so this should be my monthly Smashbook page but I've not done any this month! Boo!

Two - I'm going back to posting on a Tuesday! I've ended up with like no space to post thing in Decemeber and I don't like having no wiggle room. So I post every day apart from Saturdays now. Woo!

So another bout has been and gone and that means more photos! I've picked a few of my favourite for you to check out!

541 - New Tattoo

So last week I got a new tattoo. It's one I've wanted for a while but never got around to for some reason, but the stars alined and I ended up with a day off at the same time as one of my favourite tattoo artists had a space. This tattoo was done by Alex at Tribe Tattoo in Edinburgh, who was the same artist who did my thigh and my foot tattoos.

I wanted a rose roughly in the same place as the one on my other wrist, though this one turned out a little bigger.

I wanted this rose for my Gran who's name was Rose. I also got it mostly yellow because that was the colour of her wedding bouqet. And finally I got my roller derby number on the side, because it's also my Gran's birthday. So yeah lot's of meaning in this one, which makes a change because the rest of my tattoos are just there because they are pretty.

538 - Engagement card

So a couple of weeks ago one of my best and oldest friends Zara got engaged to her lovely boyfriend Mark. We went out to dinner with them and two other couples last week, so I decided to make them an engagement card.

Engagement card.

I decided to use a combo of my stampers and perler beads and I think it turned out quite nice (though some of my stamping could have been better! Doh!)

I'm glad this is nearly done because honestly taking a photo of it is getting harder and harder ha ha! I have twenty squares left to finish off and then that's me! Can you believe it!

With just over a week left in November I'm still confident that I can finish it in time for when we decorate the house. Boom! It's also looking more ad more lovely the more I add to it, so I'm really happy. Who knows, I might be finish it come next Wednesday!

533 - Boyfriend crafts

The other night I decided I was going to make some lovely perler bead things. And Donald decided he wanted a go too. I'm all for couple crafts, so we made some more cuties for our bookshelf. All patterns are from here.

This is what Donald made, a little green Space Invader.

Space Invader

I also made a little Chewbacca but 1) the brown and black combo was really dark and didn't look very good and 2) when I ironed him I melted his arm. Sad face. I'll need to try him again another day.

532 - Work in Progress Wednesday

These photos are getting harder and harder to take, because the squares keep getting bigger!

The ones with the green round the edge are finished! I'm hoping I can finish them by this week/early next week and then I can start sewing them all together.

Getting there!

531 - Plush Snowman

Okay before I show you what I've made this week I've decided to do a blogging schedule. So while I used to just post most of the time before, ever since April this year I've been posting every day. Sometimes I worry I'm not posting interesting stuff and sometimes I forget to post! And blogs are supposed to be fun so I've decided to make it a little easier for myself and make sure the blog stays regular.

So from now on I won't be posting on a Tuesday or a Saturaday. And if any of my things like New Year's update or that fall on of those days, I'll just post it the day before/after. Woo!

So I got around to making on of my "I've been meaning to make this for ages" items with this Wild Olive snowman plush.

I can only focus on so much of my tree skirt at once, but I can sometimes still be in a crafty mood, so I decided to make this little guy.

Wild Olive Snowman

He's so cute right! I love felt, it's the best thing in the world.

529 - Poppies

Tomorrow (November 11th) is Remembrance Day and so so I thought I would share with you this lovely crochet pattern I saw.

I've seen a few crochet patterns for poppies but I have to say this is the prettiest one, and the most realistic (as the black middle is crocheted and not just a button and it had leaves).

Image via

This pattern is from The Bead Shop Scotland and only costs a £1 (all of which goes to the Poppy Appeal). How can you say no?

I bought the pattern for myself but I've not had the time to make it, but I can make it for next year!

Handmade brooches are also more eco friendly than buying a poppy every year that just gets binned, but it would be nice if you still considered donating to the Poppy Appeal every year.

If you're not a dab hand at crochet, you can buy the brooch pre-made for £7.95 with £2 from every sale going to the Poppy Appeal.

528 - Friday Favs Top 10

Cute crochet pumpkin pie.

I almost bought these plates. Had them in my basket and everything. But the shipping was the same price as the plates. And I can't justify that. Sad times.

Nom these brownies look amazing.

I think I need 7 of this t-shirt so I can wear it every single day.

Amazing reversible Cinderella doll.

Mr Pumpkin, you are so cute.

Crochet skeletons.

Lovely little Doctor Who felt puppets.

Amazing pop corn bowls.

Brilliant bear camera case.

527 - Crochet coasters

Last Monday when I went out to see my Mum (with my crochet tree skirt in tow and full of good intentions) my new issues of Mollie Makes was waiting for me.

This month's free kit was for two pink flower coasters and I had read that they were so easy I decided to give them a go.

Crochet coasters

Again with crochet I'm not sure if I got it all right, but they both look the same so I'm very happy. I love Mollie Makes so much. The kits are amazing and everything is so lovely!

And it's so nice to just be able to pick up something crochet wise and know I can do it! Woo!

525 - Halloween Costume

As you know I love Halloween. We had a Halloween party at work this year but I didn't go because I had skating. However me and Donald did go along to my roller derby team's Halloween party on Saturday night.

I had decided a long time ago that I was going as Sally from A Nightmare Before Christmas. It's one of my favourite films and she's one of my favourite characters. A red head who likes to sew? I think we'd get on. Donald went as Clark Kent.

I love Halloween and dressing up was so much fun. Though I did have like 9 layers of white make up on and the wig ended up covering my face most of the night. I ended up tying it back in a bobble to try and keep it out my face. I love this costume and I'll defo be rocking it at other costume parties.

524 - Bake Once a Month Novemeber

After leaving my October baking so late, my November  baking is already done and we're only a few days into the month!

We had out roller derby team's Halloween party on Saturday night and everyone baked for the occasion. I decided to mae some spooky shortbread. I used a bat cookie cutter I already had and this awesome vodoo doll one my Dad just brought me back from America!

I ate one before we left the house and they tasted yummy to me. I checked them at the end of the night too and most of them had been sold. Hopefully everyone else liked them too!

I used the same shortbread recipes for these guys as I've used before, which is from BBC Food.
